A New Pricing Plan for North America
A pricing plan you can plan around
Today, we’re happy to announce a new IoT connectivity pricing plan designed specifically for customers in North America who understand their project’s data needs and value simple, predictable, affordable wireless data over absolute maximum performance and flexibility.
Starting today, when you order a SIM card from Soracom in the U.S. or Canada you’ll be able to choose between our standard pay-as-you-go plan (aka “Plan01s”) and new flat rate plan (called “plan-NA1-package”) that lets you prepay for a set amount of data at a lower cost, especially compared with the “big guys.”
The standard plan remains unchanged. You’ll get globally portable pay-as-you-go service that works in nearly 150 countries, offers coverage across almost 300 mobile operator networks, and pools data metering across all active SIMs with built-in discounts as data use increases.
Our new North America plan offers a large coverage footprint in the U.S. and Canada, but does not offer global coverage and accesses a limited number of operator networks. This lets us offer substantially similar service at a very competitive price. Packages start as low as $1/month, and data can be purchased in increments of 3MB, 20MB, 50MB, or 100MB.
If you need more data than you expected, you can always or increase your plan allowance. If a device needs more data for a short time, any overages will automatically roll over to the standard pay-as-you-go rate (currently $0.073/MB).
Packages currently begin at $1/month for 3MB, up to $6.99/month for 100MB. For complete details, please visit our Pricing page.
Maximum capability, maximum value
From Day 1, our goal has always been to make the most advanced IoT connectivity accessible to anyone with a device and a great idea. We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure that our customers get the benefit of industry-leading cloud integrations and network security. We’ve worked hard to ensure that our API and console make it easy to manage IoT networks and optimize device fleet performance. Above all, we’ve designed our pricing around the needs of IoT development.
We know that minimum monthly rates for individual SIMs just don’t make sense. We know that long-term commitments can stop a project in its tracks during prototyping and testing. We know that projects in fields like real estate, construction, agriculture and transportation may benefit from multi-carrier coverage to ensure maximum connectivity in remote areas. And we know that IoT projects need built-in volume discounts so they can scale without going back to the negotiating table every few months.
But we also know that pricing needs to be simple and predictable. Our standard plan delivers a lot of granular control (like measuring usage by the day rather than the month, or by kilobyte instead of megabyte), but we know that can make it more complicated than every project really needs. We’re happy to be able to offer a simplified approach that scales back on a few “power user” features to offer lower-cost service that “just works” almost everywhere in the U.S. and Canada.
